Black Pottery from San Bartolo Coyotepec

A short stop-off on the tour to Monte Alban was to a little village - San Bartolo Coyotepec - famous for its black clay pottery.

Pottery-making demonstration: the "wheel" is not mechanical - it is literally two plates (one large, underneath, a smaller one holding the piece on top) resting on top of each other, spun by hand. Amazingly skilled potters!
